One Ski Skiing

(blue terrain) Typically done in a series of medium radius turns. In the transition zone, transfer weight completely to the new outside ski, while lifting the inside ski completely off, and parallel to, the snow. At turn completion, transfer weight to new outside ski and complete as in a parallel turn.

Key Performance Focus

  • Weight transfer happens during the transition
  • Inside ski remains off the snow until next transition
  • Accurate lateral movements will facilitate balancing on the outside ski
  • Strong/Stable upper body allows ski to be guided through a turn
  • Speed control is maintained via turn shape
