Straight Run, Paddle Turn Out to Stop

Demonstrate a balanced stance with legs slightly flexed, hands and arms in front of body, while in a straight run. Transferring weight from one ski to the other in a scissoring fashion, step across the fall line to a stop. Complete on very shallow terrain.

Key Performance Focus

  • Extension movements are in intended direction of travel
  • Skis glide in a straight line with minimal ski-design turning or skidding
  • Direction change happens as a result of a stepping onto ski not pivoting the ski on the snow
  • Upper body is quiet and stable
