Course Description:

What to expect :

– To have FUN

– Learn teaching tools for seniors

– Be introduced to low impact skiing/riding

– Be prepared to participate and interact in engaging group discussions, activities, and problem solving solutions when teaching seniors

– More understanding of the Senior Specialist program and what is expected during the event

Who is this for:

– Anyone wanting to gain more knowledge about how to pace a senior lesson

– Anyone wanting to learn the senior CAP (cognitive, affective, physical) model

– Anyone interested in a primer for the Senior Specialist 1 or 2 (SS)

– This clinic will include what motivates seniors

– All disciplines are welcome

– No certification is necessary

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this event, participants will be able to:

– Adapt to age-related change – Adjust terrain, pacing, duration and expectations for changes in strength, balance, vision, joint mobility and recovery.

– Choose equipment and tactics that help – Recommend equipment and turn-shape tactics that reduce load and build confidence for older students.

  • – Communicate and motivate effectively – Frame goals and feedback around enjoyment, confidence and continued participation rather than performance milestones.
