Course Description:
Ski and Snowboard – Spend a day exploring and guiding around the mountain. We will cover different guiding styles, commands, and safety as you learn to be a trusted and efficient guide on the snow. This clinic is for people who are new to guiding as well as those with experience. Even if you are not an adaptive instructor, this is a valuable skill set for any snowsports instructor to have.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this clinic, participants will be able to:
– Apply multiple guiding styles – Demonstrate lead, follow, and side-by-side guiding, and explain when each suits the student and the terrain.
– Use a clear command system – Establish and use consistent verbal commands for direction, speed, stopping, and hazards, and confirm the student understands them before moving.
– Manage safety and terrain – Select appropriate terrain, position yourself to protect the student, and communicate hazards, traffic, and lift procedures effectively.
Open to ski and snowboard instructors at any certification level. Earns continuing education credit (CEUs).
