Course Description:
A two-day course available to any Level I or higher PSIA member. There is a mandatory online workbook and quiz for this course; both must be successfully completed before you can register for the on-snow portion.
Principles of the senior-specific models, the teaching cycle, theories, and professional knowledge will be covered, along with identification of critical skills and skill blending, including senior-specific movement patterns that allow for efficient outcomes.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this credential, participants will be able to:
– Understand the aging athlete – Describe the physical, cognitive, and affective changes that shape how older students learn and move.
– Adapt technique and tactics – Select movements, terrain, and equipment choices that produce efficient skiing within a senior student’s range of motion and strength.
– Teach the senior lesson – Deliver a lesson that respects pacing, recovery, and motivation, and builds long-term participation in the sport.
Two-day course. Level I certification or higher required. Online workbook and quiz must be completed before registering for the on-snow. Earns continuing education credit (CEUs).

Need to complete the workbook and quiz before registering – and send to info@psia-nw.org. Find them on the psia-nw.org Senior Specialist 1 section.
The Summit at Snoqualmie is supporting this credential with lift tickets for those who do not have a pass at the resort.
A minimum of five participants are needed to run this credential. If the minimum is not reached, we will look to reschedule and communicate with you two weeks before the event. If you don’t hear anything, further, that means it is a go!
