Course Description:
Alpine Remote Movement Analysis 101 – Observation and Evaluation
Build your observation and evaluation skills in this introductory, interactive four-week course with an experienced PSIA-NW movement analysis facilitator. Each session you will expand your abilities through a guided review of film clips selected to build accuracy in identifying ski/snow interactions related to a wide variety of intended outcomes.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
– Observe accurately – Describe what the skis and body are actually doing in a video clip, separating observation from interpretation.
– Evaluate against intent – Compare observed ski/snow interaction to the intended outcome of the task and identify the gap.
– Use consistent terminology – Apply the Skiing Fundamentals and PSIA-AASI language to communicate findings clearly to peers and students.
Four weekly online sessions. Recommended before Remote MA 201 – Prescription. Earns continuing education credit (CEUs).
Prerequisites:
Attendance for all 4-weeks (one session can be missed, and homework will be assigned to be completed to attain CEUs).
Make sure you will be able to participate fully by ensuring all of your technology is properly setup. We will be using Zoom. You can find a list of requirements at https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0060748#h_d278c327-e03d-4896-b19a-96a8f3c0c69c
- System – Laptop, computer, or large tablet (with stand) that gives you enough screen space to see the videos and each other. A phone will not have enough screen space for this class.
- Video Camera – Built in or separate. If you don’t have a camera – Logitech is a good brand with some less expensive options on Amazon
- Microphone – Built-in computer microphones are ok, but you will have a better experience with a headset or earbuds
- Internet Speed – For our class you should have at a minimum of 2Mbps/2Mbps (up/down).
Additional Event Details:
We will need 12 participants in order for this session to run. You will be notified ahead if we do not have the registrations needed to run this session.
To receive your continuing education credits, participation in all sessions (evenings) is necessary (you are able to do homework for one session for a makeup). The clinic leader will send out the zoom details roughly a week before the first class, along with any additional instructions.
