Course Description:
The Snowboard Level 3 Teaching Module is the teaching and people skills half of the AASI Level 3 certification exam, assessed separately from the Riding Module. Candidates demonstrate expert teaching against the Snowboard Level 3 National Standard.
ASSESSMENT FOCUS
– Movement analysis – Observe, accurately describe and prescribe for advanced riders, linking cause and effect in the snowboard-specific skills concepts.
– Teaching skills – Deliver lesson segments to advanced and expert students, adapting on the fly and defending your choices technically.
– People skills – Build genuine rapport, manage group dynamics, and handle challenging students and situations professionally.
– Professional knowledge – Apply the National Standards, AASI teaching and riding concepts, and risk management appropriately.
PREREQUISITES
Current PSIA-AASI membership and AASI Snowboard Level 2 certification. Modules may be taken and passed in either order; both the Riding and Teaching modules must be passed to earn Level 3 certification.
Additional Event Details:
If registering for the same module more than one time in the season, you agree you will not be eligible to receive a refund if you cancel, or not show up to, the second exam, you hold a spot from someone else being able to register for the exam. Even if you see a waitlist.
Exam Modules in Entirety
Please note, to complete your certification, all modules, including the professional development online exam, have to be successfully completed in the Northwest, partial modules completed in another division do not cross over.
Know Ahead
Make sure you are familiar with, and know, the appropriate section(s) of the Snowboard Certification Guide and the National Alpine Standards. And that you have talked with your trainer on expectations and your readiness for the exam.
