Course Description:

The Adaptive Visual Level 2 On-Snow Assessment measures your ability to teach students who are blind or have low vision against the PSIA-AASI Adaptive Level 2 National Standard. Guiding is the core skill: the assessment focuses on keeping a visually impaired skier safe, informed and progressing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

– Guiding technique – Demonstrate effective guide positioning, consistent verbal cueing, and terrain and line selection appropriate to the student’s remaining vision.

– Communication systems – Establish and use a clear, agreed set of commands for turns, stops, hazards, lifts and traffic.

– Teaching competency – Deliver a lesson segment on intermediate terrain that builds the student’s independence, not just their safety.

Adaptive Level 1 certification is a prerequisite. Review the PSIA-NW Adaptive Certification Guide, the Cog-VI Exam Information sheet, and complete your Cog-VI Development Log before attending.

Make sure you are familiar with, and know, the appropriate section(s) of the Adaptive Certification Guide and the National Adaptive Standards. And that you have talked with your trainer on expectations and your readiness for the exam.
