Course Description:
Join us for a clinic designed to sharpen both your riding in the trees and your teaching. We’ll explore the techniques needed to navigate tight spaces, manage varying snow conditions, and stay safe among the trees. Alongside the practical skills, the clinic emphasizes teaching methods suited to different learning styles, so you can communicate and demonstrate these skills to your own students. You’ll leave a more skilled tree rider and a more confident educator.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this clinic, participants will be able to:
– Ride tight terrain with control – Demonstrate quick edge changes, pivoting, and speed control in tight spaces and variable snow on both heelside and toeside.
– Read the line ahead – Choose a route through trees by looking through the gaps rather than at the obstacles, and manage speed for the visibility available.
– Apply safety protocols – Identify tree-well, deadfall, and tree-bomb hazards, and use group management and buddy practices appropriate to wooded terrain.
– Teach it to students – Sequence progressive drills that prepare a rider for trees, and give feedback appropriate to different learning styles.
Snowboard specific. Recommended for confident intermediate and advanced riders. Earns continuing education credit (CEUs).
