Skating on Flat Terrain

Push off an angled, edged ski and glide onto the other ski. After pushing with one ski, bring it alongside the other ski before the next skating step. Repetitive skating with the same foot pushing off makes skating easier to learn.

Key Performance Focus

  • Extension movements are in intended direction of travel
  • Skis glide in a straight line with minimal ski-design turning
  • Direction change happens as a result of a skating step not pivoting the ski on the snow
  • Upper body is quiet and stable
